Bicol - Albay

April, Summertime in the Philippines, it was our first Outreach for 2023. Our NGO group "The Project 200" went to Albay, Bicol to give donations to the families living in the outskirts of the city.

The heat was really tremendous, no leaves moving from the trees, it was really a Humid day and night for us. The group successfully went on with the program. All goods have been given to the recipients, be it children or families of Baluy in Bagsa, Oas, Albay. At night after dinner, there was a sayawan with the locals, they named it "baylehan" but most of them were ashamed to dance with my group mates. It was a night of fun for most of them but for some who do not appreciate the weather like me, I stayed on the sides far from people. I was with Vanessa and the 2 teachers who joined us.

"Baylehan" as called by the locals

By the next morning, we took some coffee and had our breakfast and prepare ourselves to leave the place. We went to Legazpi, Albay to see the Cagsawa Ruins and the Majestic Mayon Volcano. The heat index was way too high in the area of the Cagsawa Ruins. You can feel too much heat in the sand while walking. We took pictures in the place as group and went on to buy our Pasalubong and had our sumptuous lunch. I bought Bicol Express and Pinangat. It's too hot!!!

We left Cagsawa after lunch and drop by the Store that sells Pinangat and Inulukan. I bought 10 packs of Pinangat and Inulukan. We took the long road bound to Manila.

We had a stopover at Lolo Ompong in Gumaca, Quezon Province. We had our dinner there, some of us were shocked of our bill. The boneless bangus cost P250. Expensive for that meal but it all went well.

We continued with our travel and head back to Manila. It was a really a tiring day for everyone yet satisfying after a successful event we had in Albay.

Have you met Daragang Magayon? Visit Albay and add it in your bucket list.
